Philosophy and Approach
Philosophy
At my core, my work has always been about resourcing and facilitating learning, exploration, and improved self-efficacy. Whether I was helping a four-year-old navigate their first day of school, supporting a teacher in addressing areas of development with intentional professional development, or building talent systems that empowered entire school communities, the heart of my work has remained constant: believing in people's innate capacity for growth and providing them with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to trust themselves.
This philosophy translates seamlessly into doula work. Birth is an incredible learning experience—one where your body, your baby, and your family are all discovering something new together. My role is to resource you with information, facilitate your exploration of what feels right for your unique situation, and support you in developing confidence in your own decision-making capabilities.
Why I’ve Chosen to “Doula”
Birth work represents the convergence of everything I've learned about supporting humans through transitions. It combines my deep respect for the learning process, my belief in the power of informed choice, my commitment to meeting people exactly where they are, and my understanding that the right support at the right time can transform an experience from overwhelming to empowering.
Just as I've spent years finding ways to empower educators and leaders through people-centered organization-based policies, I now have the honor of helping birthing people find their voice and confidence in one of life's most profound experiences.
My Approach
Drawing from evidence-based practices, I offer emotional support through active listening and presence, facilitate comfort measures tailored to your preferences, and help establish an environment that moves at your pace in birth and/or postpartum. This allows you the space and time to process information thoughtfully and make informed decisions about your care, your baby, and your transition home.
I collaborate with you, your support people, and your entire caregiving team to lift up your hopes and intentions for labor, delivery, and postpartum transitions.
